Possible Causes

Worn or stretched drive belt, Belt slipped off drum or motor pulley, Misaligned motor bracket, Excessive drum resistance due to bearing wear

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing panels.

  • 1. Access the belt: Remove the rear panel to expose the drum pulley and motor.
  • 2. Inspect belt condition: If the belt is off or broken, replace it with the correct De Dietrich belt type and length. Check for glazing or cracks.
  • 3. Check pulley alignment: Ensure the motor and drum pulleys are aligned. Tighten any loose motor mounting bolts.
  • 4. Test drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand. If it is stiff or noisy, investigate bearings before fitting a new belt, as a seized drum will quickly damage the new belt.

Note: Fit the belt first on the motor pulley, then partially on the drum pulley and rotate the drum to walk the belt into place.
