Possible Causes

Stuck door lock solenoid, Faulty door lock assembly, Control board not sending unlock signal, Wiring issue to door lock

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance. Do not force the door open with tools as this can damage the lock and door.

  • 1. Wait and power cycle: Allow several minutes after the cycle ends. Then unplug for 1–2 minutes and plug back in to see if the lock releases.
  • 2. Manual release: Many Electrolux combos have a manual release tab near the door lock accessible by removing the lower front panel or pulling back the door boot. Pull the tab gently to open the door.
  • 3. Replace lock: If the lock repeatedly fails to release, replace the door lock assembly.

If the lock tests good but E42 persists, the main control board may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
