Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels. The drum and motor can start unexpectedly if power is applied.
- Check for overloading: Remove some laundry and try a smaller load. Overloading can prevent spin and trigger motor errors.
- Listen for motor noise: If you hear a humming sound but no drum movement, the belt may be broken or the motor jammed.
- Inspect the drive belt: Remove the rear panel (or top and rear, depending on model). Check if the belt is off the pulley or broken. If loose or worn, replace with the correct Equator drive belt.
- Check drum rotation: Manually rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is very stiff or grinding, the bearings or tub may be seized, overloading the motor.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the motor harness connector is fully seated on the motor and on the main control board. Look for burnt pins or damaged wires.
- Advanced testing: With power disconnected, use a multimeter to check motor windings for continuity. Open windings indicate a failed motor that must be replaced.
If the belt and motor test good but E3 persists, the main control board (motor drive circuit) may be defective and should be diagnosed and replaced by a professional.
