Possible Causes
Failed door lock assembly on Equator combo, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring to door lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working around the door lock. Do not bypass safety interlocks for normal use.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and that no clothing is trapped between the door gasket and the door.
- Inspect door strike: Look at the plastic or metal strike on the door. If it is cracked, loose, or missing, the lock cannot engage and must be replaced.
- Listen for lock click: Start a cycle and listen for a click from the door lock area. No click suggests the lock is not energizing.
- Access door lock: Remove the front retaining band from the door boot (gasket) and peel the gasket back to access the door lock assembly. Check the wiring connector for secure fit and damage.
- Test lock (advanced): With power disconnected, use a multimeter to check the lock’s internal switches and coil for continuity according to Equator service data. Replace the lock assembly if readings are out of spec.
After replacing the door lock or strike, re-seat the gasket and retaining band carefully to prevent leaks.
