Washer-dryer will not start; display shows E01 and door remains unlocked

Safety first: Unplug the washer-dryer combo from the mains and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the unit is powered.

• Step 1 – Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a cycle. Sometimes the Essentials control PCB will clear a transient E01 after a hard reset.
• Step 2 – Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped in the seal and that the door latch hook fully engages the door interlock on the cabinet.
• Step 3 – Inspect door lock assembly: Remove the top cover (usually 2–3 screws at the back, slide back and lift). From the front, remove the door seal retaining band and gently pull back the seal to access the door interlock. Check for burnt smell, cracks, or loose connectors.
• Step 4 – Test wiring: With the unit unplugged, inspect the wiring harness from the door interlock to the main control PCB on the right/left side (varies by Essentials model). Look for broken, pinched, or corroded wires and reseat the connectors.
• Step 5 – Replace door lock if faulty: If the interlock looks damaged or tests open with a multimeter, replace it with a compatible Essentials door lock assembly. Refit the seal and retaining band carefully to avoid leaks.
• Step 6 – If E01 persists: The fault may be on the main control PCB relay or triac that drives the lock. At this point, professional diagnosis or PCB replacement is recommended.
