Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Step 1 – Access drain filter: Open the lower front service flap. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the filter to let water drain out in a controlled way.
- Step 2 – Clean filter and pump cavity: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and from inside the pump housing. Ensure the impeller spins freely by hand.
- Step 3 – Check drain hose: Inspect the drain hose at the back for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink connection and flush with water if necessary.
- Step 4 – Test drain pump: With the machine unplugged, access the pump from the rear or bottom (depending on Essentials model). Check wiring connections. If you have a multimeter, test the pump motor for continuity; an open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Step 5 – Replace pump if faulty: If the pump is noisy, seized, or electrically open, replace it with the correct Essentials drain pump assembly. Ensure all hose clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
- Step 6 – Run a rinse/drain cycle: Reassemble panels, plug in, and run a drain or rinse cycle to confirm E03 is cleared and water is pumped out properly.
