Possible Causes

Failed tub heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control PCB heater relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before working near the heater.

  • Step 1 – Confirm symptom: Run a 60°C cotton cycle and check if the door glass becomes warm after 20–30 minutes. If not, and E05 appears, suspect the heater circuit.
  • Step 2 – Access heater terminals: Remove the rear panel. At the bottom of the tub you will see the wash heating element with two power terminals and an NTC sensor in the middle.
  • Step 3 – Test heater: Disconnect the wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals with a multimeter. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • Step 4 – Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the NTC at room temperature (usually 20–30 kΩ). If it reads open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace it.
  • Step 5 – Inspect wiring: Check for burnt connectors or damaged wires from the heater/NTC to the Essentials control PCB. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
  • Step 6 – Replace faulty parts: Install a new Essentials-compatible tub heating element and/or NTC sensor as needed. Ensure the heater gasket is seated correctly to prevent leaks.
  • Step 7 – If E05 persists: The heater relay or triac on the main control PCB may be defective. This typically requires PCB repair or replacement by a professional.
