Possible Causes

Failed dryer heating element, Tripped thermal cut-out (TCO) or thermostat, Blocked condenser or airflow path, Faulty dryer temperature sensor (NTC)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer-dryer and allow it to cool completely before accessing the dryer section.

  • Step 1 – Clean lint and condenser: Remove and clean the condenser unit (if accessible on your Essentials model) and any lint filters. Blocked airflow can overheat and trip safety thermostats.
  • Step 2 – Access dryer heater: Remove the rear panel or top cover (model dependent). Locate the dryer heater housing, usually behind the drum or on the side, with thermostats mounted on it.
  • Step 3 – Check thermostats/TCO: Using a multimeter, test the thermal cut-out and thermostats for continuity. A blown TCO will read open and must be replaced; investigate and correct airflow issues before replacing.
  • Step 4 – Test dryer element: Measure resistance across the dryer heating element terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
  • Step 5 – Inspect dryer NTC: Locate the dryer temperature sensor (NTC) near the air duct. Test its resistance at room temperature and compare with specifications. Replace if open/shorted.
  • Step 6 – Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble panels, plug in, and run a drying-only cycle to confirm that heat is restored and E06 is cleared.
