Possible Causes
Stuck door interlock mechanism, Faulty door lock solenoid, Broken door handle or latch, Control PCB not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Do not force the door open with tools, as this can damage the cabinet and glass.
- Step 1 – Wait for safety delay: Many Essentials combos have a 1–3 minute delay before unlocking. Ensure the drum has fully stopped and wait before assuming a fault.
- Step 2 – Emergency release: Check for an emergency door release tab near the pump filter area (consult your user manual). Pull gently to mechanically release the lock.
- Step 3 – Inspect door lock: Remove the top cover and door seal retaining band to access the door interlock. Check for signs of overheating or mechanical damage.
- Step 4 – Test lock: With the unit unplugged, test continuity of the lock contacts with a multimeter. If the unlock coil or contacts are open, replace the door lock assembly.
- Step 5 – Check handle and latch: Inspect the door handle and latch hook for cracks or misalignment. Replace the door handle/latch kit if it does not fully engage the lock.
- Step 6 – If E10 persists with new lock: The control PCB may not be energizing the unlock circuit. This requires professional diagnosis.
