Washer-dryer makes a scraping or grinding noise when the drum turns

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before attempting to remove foreign objects.

• Step 1 – Inspect drum paddles: Look inside the drum for loose or broken plastic lifters. Remove and replace damaged lifters as needed.
• Step 2 – Check door seal gap: Shine a torch through the holes in the drum and around the seal area to look for trapped objects.
• Step 3 – Access via heater: Remove the rear panel and carefully take out the tub heating element. Through the opening, feel for and remove any foreign objects between drum and tub.
• Step 4 – Rotate and test: After removal, rotate the drum by hand to ensure the scraping noise is gone before reassembling and testing a cycle.
