Possible Causes
Faulty Start/Pause button, Child lock function enabled, Defective control panel PCB, Loose ribbon cable to main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Check child lock: Look for a key or lock symbol on the display. Disable child lock by holding the indicated button combination (refer to Essentials manual, often pressing and holding two buttons for several seconds).
- Step 2 – Reset appliance: Turn the selector to Off, unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try again.
- Step 3 – Test Start button: If some buttons work but Start does not, the Start/Pause switch may be faulty. Remove the control fascia and test the switch for continuity when pressed.
- Step 4 – Inspect ribbon cable: Ensure the ribbon cable between the user interface and main PCB is fully seated and undamaged.
- Step 5 – Replace control panel: If the button or panel PCB is defective, replace the complete control panel assembly.
