Possible Causes

Wash heater shorted to ground, Dryer heater shorted to ground, Damaged wiring harness touching chassis, Moisture ingress in connectors or heater housing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker and unplug the appliance. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker without finding the cause.

  • Step 1 – Visual inspection: Remove rear panel and inspect the wash heater, dryer heater, and wiring for burn marks, melted insulation, or signs of water leaks.
  • Step 2 – Insulation test on heaters: Disconnect heater wires. Using a multimeter with insulation test (or at least continuity), check between each heater terminal and the metal chassis/tub. There should be no continuity. If there is, replace the faulty heater.
  • Step 3 – Check wiring harness: Follow the main harness from the control board to the motor, pump, and heaters. Look for pinched or rubbed-through insulation where it passes through metal brackets. Repair with proper insulation or replace the harness.
  • Step 4 – Dry out moisture: If there are signs of leaks around the heater or connectors, locate and fix the leak (door seal, tub seal, or hose) and allow components to dry fully before retesting.
  • Step 5 – Control board: If all loads test good but E09 or tripping persists, the Fagor control board may have an internal short and should be inspected or replaced by a technician.
