Possible Causes
Dirty or coated Fisher & Paykel moisture sensor bars, Broken or disconnected sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring.
- Clean sensor bars: Inside the drum, locate the metal moisture sensor strips (usually near the door opening). Wipe them thoroughly with a cloth dampened with white vinegar or mild detergent to remove fabric softener residue.
- Avoid dryer sheets on sensor: Excessive use of dryer sheets can coat the sensors. Reduce use or switch to liquid softener.
- Inspect wiring: Access the rear of the sensor bars by removing the front panel or lower access panel. Ensure the Fisher & Paykel sensor harness is securely connected and not broken.
- Test sensor (advanced): Use a multimeter to check continuity across the sensor bars when bridged with a damp cloth. Replace the sensor assembly if it remains open.
- Control board: If the sensor and wiring are good but E14 persists, the main control board may require replacement.
