Possible Causes
Failed Fisher & Paykel NTC temperature sensor, Loose sensor connection, Wiring damage between NTC and control board, Control board analog input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the machine to cool before servicing.
- Access NTC sensor: The wash NTC is typically mounted in the heater bracket or inserted into the outer tub. Remove the rear or front lower panel to locate it.
- Check connector: Ensure the NTC wiring plug is fully seated and free of corrosion.
- Test NTC: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare with Fisher & Paykel service values (commonly around 20 kΩ at 25°C, but verify for your model). If readings are far off or open, replace the sensor.
- Replace NTC: Gently pull the sensor from its housing, install the new NTC with any supplied sealant or O-ring, and reconnect wiring.
- Control board: If a known-good NTC still results in E16, the main control board may have a faulty input circuit and require replacement.
