Possible Causes
Drain hose inserted too far into standpipe, Drain hose height below specification, Standpipe without air gap, Incorrect Fisher & Paykel installation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and water before moving the appliance.
- Check drain hose height: Refer to the Fisher & Paykel installation manual for the correct standpipe height (typically around 800–1000 mm from floor). Adjust the hose so the loop meets this requirement.
- Ensure air gap: The drain hose should not form an airtight seal in the standpipe. Pull it out slightly so there is a small gap around the hose to allow air in.
- Secure hose: Use the supplied U-bracket or clamp to secure the hose to the standpipe, preventing it from slipping down.
- Test cycle: Run a rinse and spin cycle and observe the drain hose. If water continues to siphon out after the pump stops, raise the hose further.
- Plumbing check: If siphoning persists, consult a plumber to correct the standpipe configuration.
