Possible Causes
Blocked pressure hose to water level sensor, Faulty Fisher & Paykel pressure switch, Air leak in pressure hose, Control board misreading level signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply before opening the cabinet.
- Check for over-sudsing: Too much or non-HE detergent can cause foam that confuses the level sensor. Run a rinse and spin with no detergent to clear suds.
- Access pressure hose: Remove the top cover. Locate the small rubber or plastic hose running from the bottom of the tub to the Fisher & Paykel pressure sensor (usually mounted near the top side panel).
- Inspect and clear hose: Detach the hose from the sensor and gently blow through it toward the tub. It should be clear. If blocked, remove and rinse the hose to clear soap residue or lint.
- Check for kinks or cracks: Replace the hose if it is brittle, cracked, or kinked.
- Sensor replacement (advanced): If the hose is clear and intact but E4 persists, replace the Fisher & Paykel water level pressure switch. Disconnect wiring, remove the old sensor, install the new one, reconnect the hose and wiring, and reassemble.
