Possible Causes

Low-temperature washes allowing mold growth, Residual detergent and fabric softener in Fisher & Paykel dispenser and seal, Standing water in sump, Poor ventilation after use

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use appropriate cleaning agents and ensure good ventilation when running cleaning cycles.

  • Run a drum clean: Run an empty hot wash (90°C if available) with a washing machine cleaner or 1–2 cups of white vinegar to kill bacteria and mold.
  • Clean door seal: Wipe the Fisher & Paykel door gasket folds with a cloth and mild detergent or diluted bleach solution. Remove any visible mold or slime.
  • Clean dispenser drawer: Remove the detergent drawer and scrub away residue and mold. Clean the housing as well.
  • Leave door open: After each use, leave the door and dispenser drawer slightly open to allow the interior to dry.
  • Repeat regularly: Perform a maintenance wash monthly to prevent odor build-up.
