Possible Causes

Clogged Frigidaire drain pump filter or impeller, Obstructed drain hose, Failed drain pump motor, Kinked or improperly installed standpipe

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before servicing. Water may spill when opening hoses or pump.

  • Check drain hose: Inspect the hose at the back of the combo for kinks or sharp bends. Ensure the hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe (should be about 6–8 inches) to prevent siphoning.
  • Access the drain pump: Remove the lower front access panel or rear panel (model dependent). Place a shallow pan and towels under the pump area.
  • Clean pump filter and impeller: If your Frigidaire combo has a serviceable pump cover, remove the screws or twist cap and let water drain into the pan. Remove debris (coins, lint, buttons) from the filter and check that the impeller spins freely.
  • Inspect drain hose connection: Detach the drain hose from the pump and check for clogs. Flush with water if needed.
  • Test pump operation: After reassembly, plug in the unit and run a drain/spin cycle. If you hear humming but no pumping, or the pump is silent, the drain pump motor is likely failed and should be replaced.

If you are unsure about electrical testing or pump replacement, contact a qualified appliance technician.
