Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer connector, Damaged motor control board, Worn motor shaft magnet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working near the motor.
- Inspect tachometer wiring: Access the motor and locate the small tachometer connector at the rear of the motor. Ensure it is firmly seated and wires are intact.
- Check for debris: Make sure no foreign objects are interfering with the motor or tachometer area.
- Test tachometer: A technician can measure resistance across the tachometer leads and spin the motor by hand to verify signal generation. If readings are out of spec, replace the motor assembly (tach is usually integrated).
- Replace motor or control: If the tachometer is faulty, replace the drive motor. If the tach signal is good but the control does not respond, replace the motor control or main control board.
