Possible Causes
Failed heater element, Open high-limit thermostat, Faulty cycling thermostat, Restricted exhaust duct
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. If gas-heated (rare in combos), also shut off gas supply and follow gas safety procedures.
- Check airflow: Inspect the exhaust vent hose for kinks, crushing, or lint buildup. Clean or replace as needed. Ensure the exterior vent hood opens freely.
- Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to locate the Frigidaire heater housing. Look for burned or broken heater coils.
- Test thermostats and heater: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the heater element, high-limit thermostat, and cycling thermostat. Replace any open components.
- Clean lint paths: Vacuum lint from the heater housing, blower wheel, and internal ducts to improve airflow and prevent overheating.
If you are not comfortable testing high-voltage heater circuits, contact a professional.
