Possible Causes
Foreign object jammed between inner drum and tub, Seized drum bearings, Overloaded drum causing motor overcurrent, Faulty motor overload detection on control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Do not force the drum; this can damage the motor and belt.
- 1. Reduce load: If the drum is simply heavily loaded, remove some items and try a spin-only cycle. Overloading can trigger E08.
- 2. Check drum rotation: With the machine empty, rotate the drum by hand. Listen for scraping, grinding, or tight spots. These indicate a jam or bearing issue.
- 3. Inspect for foreign objects: Look through the drum holes with a flashlight for bra wires, screws, or coins. Gently flex the door seal and inspect the gap between drum and tub. Remove any visible objects with pliers.
- 4. Examine bearings and pulley: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drum pulley and shaft. Excessive play, rust streaks, or brown residue around the bearing area suggest bearing failure, which typically requires tub/bearing replacement.
- 5. Test again: After clearing obstructions, run a rinse/spin cycle. If E08 persists with a free-spinning drum, the motor or control module overload circuit may be faulty and should be checked professionally.
