Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor, Loose NTC wiring connector, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty control module input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the appliance to cool.
- 1. Identify which circuit: Determine whether E15 occurs during washing (water heating) or drying (air heating) to locate the relevant NTC sensor.
- 2. Access NTC sensor: For wash, locate the NTC near the wash heater on the tub. For dry, locate it on the dryer air duct. Disconnect the plug.
- 3. Measure resistance: Use a multimeter to measure sensor resistance at room temperature. Compare with service specifications; a reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates failure.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the NTC to the control module for damage or loose connections. Repair as needed.
- 5. Replace NTC: If readings are out of range, install a new Gaggenau-compatible NTC sensor.
- 6. If E15 persists: The control module’s sensor input circuit may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
