Possible Causes
Stuck-open water inlet valve, Blocked pressure hose, Failed water level sensor, Faulty main control not shutting valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If water is still entering the machine with power off, immediately close the wall water supply valves.
- Check inlet valve: If water continues to flow into the tub when the unit is unplugged, the GE water inlet valve assembly is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- Inspect pressure system: Verify the pressure hose and sensor are clear and intact as described for E71/E72.
- Control board: If the valve only overfills when powered and tests good mechanically, the main control may be energizing it too long. Replace the GE main control board after ruling out sensor issues.
- Dry and clean: After repair, dry any water from the base and check the overflow switch (if present) for proper operation.
