Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screens at water valves, Failed GE water inlet valve assembly, Low household water pressure or closed supply valves, Faulty water level/pressure sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the combo and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves before working on it.
- Check water supply: Verify both wall faucets are fully open and hoses are not kinked or crushed behind the unit.
- Clean inlet screens: Disconnect the hoses at the back of the washer. Inside the GE water inlet valve ports you will see small metal or plastic screens. Rinse them under running water and remove sediment with a soft brush—do not puncture the screens.
- Test water flow: Briefly open each hose into a bucket to confirm strong water flow from the house plumbing.
- Inspect the inlet valve: If screens are clean and water flow is good but E22 persists, the GE water inlet valve solenoids may be weak or stuck. Look for signs of burning or cracking. Replacement of the complete GE water inlet valve assembly is recommended rather than attempting to repair the solenoids.
- Check pressure sensor hose: Remove the top panel, locate the small rubber hose from the tub to the water level/pressure sensor. Ensure it is not kinked, cracked, or full of debris. Clear any blockage and reseat firmly.
- Reset and test: Restore power and water, then run a small load to confirm proper filling.
