Possible Causes
Failed GE user interface (UI) board, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Cracked touchpad or PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening the control console.
- Dry the panel: If the panel was recently exposed to steam or water, allow it to dry completely for several hours with the door open and room ventilated.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control console cover and locate the flat ribbon cable between the UI board and main control. Carefully disconnect and reconnect it, ensuring it is fully seated and not damaged.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors or the UI board. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with contact cleaner; heavy corrosion usually requires replacing the GE user interface board.
- Test buttons: In service mode (see tech sheet), run a key test if available. Non-responsive keys indicate a failed touchpad or UI board.
- Replace UI board: If E62 persists and wiring is good, install a new GE UI/display board matched to the model number.
