Possible Causes
Door lock mechanism jammed, Control not receiving end-of-cycle signal, Water still detected in tub, Faulty door lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before attempting manual release. Beware of hot water or surfaces.
- Wait a few minutes: Some models delay unlocking for safety. Wait 2–5 minutes after cycle end.
- Check for water: If water is visible in the drum, run a drain/spin cycle. If it will not drain, clean the drain pump filter.
- Manual release: Many GE combos have a manual door lock release accessible through the lower front panel or behind the gasket. Pull the release tab to open the door.
- Replace lock: If the problem recurs, replace the GE door lock assembly.
