Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked exhaust duct, Kinked vent hose, Weak heating element or cycling thermostat issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning ducts.
- Clean lint filter: Remove and clean the lint filter before every load. Wash with soap and water if fabric softener residue is present.
- Inspect vent hose: Check the rear vent hose for kinks or crushing. Shorten excessive hose length and avoid sharp bends.
- Clean exhaust duct: Disconnect the vent from the wall and clean the entire duct run to the outside using a vent brush.
- Check external hood: Ensure the outside vent hood opens freely and is not blocked by lint or nests.
- Heater check: If airflow is good but drying is still poor, test the GE dryer heating element and thermostats as described for E51.
