Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Defective Gorenje drain pump, Wiring issue between control module and pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.

  • Access the pump filter: Open the small service flap at the bottom front of the machine. Place a tray under the filter cap.
  • Drain residual water: If equipped with an emergency drain hose, pull it out and drain into a container. Otherwise, slowly loosen the filter cap to let water out gradually.
  • Clean the filter: Remove the filter completely and clear out coins, lint, buttons, or other debris. Check the pump impeller behind the filter for obstructions and ensure it spins freely.
  • Inspect the drain hose: Check the rear drain hose for kinks, freezing, or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water if needed.
  • Test the cycle: Refit the filter tightly, restore power, and run a drain or spin program. If E2 returns and you hear no pump noise, the pump may be defective.
  • Advanced check: With power disconnected, access the bottom of the machine, locate the drain pump, and test coil resistance. Replace the pump with a Gorenje-compatible drain pump if open or seized.
