Possible Causes
Severely unbalanced laundry load, Worn motor carbon brushes (on brush motor models), Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose drive belt on drum pulley
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before reaching inside the drum or removing panels.
- Redistribute the load: Open the door (after it unlocks), separate heavy items (e.g., towels, blankets), and mix with lighter items. Avoid washing a single heavy item alone.
- Check machine leveling: Ensure the washer-dryer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the front feet and lock nuts so the cabinet does not rock.
- Run a spin test: With a balanced load, run a spin-only program. If E4 reappears and the drum struggles to reach speed, suspect drive or motor issues.
- Inspect drive belt (advanced): Remove the rear panel, check that the belt is tight and centered on the motor and drum pulleys. Replace a loose or frayed belt.
- Check motor brushes (if applicable): On Gorenje models with brushed motors, remove the motor and inspect carbon brushes. Replace if worn below manufacturer spec.
