Possible Causes
Failed tub heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor on heater, Burned wiring or connector at heater, Faulty main control module relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and ensure the tub is cool before working near the heater.
- Confirm symptom: Run a 60°C cotton program and check the door glass after 20–30 minutes. If it remains cold and E5 appears, the heater circuit is suspect.
- Access heater terminals (advanced): Remove the rear panel. At the bottom of the tub you will see the heater bracket with two large terminals and a smaller sensor connector.
- Test heater resistance: With a multimeter on ohms, measure across the two heater terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates a failed heater.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burned connectors or damaged wires at the heater and NTC sensor. Repair or replace as needed.
- Replace heater if faulty: Loosen the central nut, push the bolt inward to release tension, and carefully pry the heater out of the tub. Clean the seat and install a new Gorenje-compatible tub heater with gasket, tightening the nut evenly to avoid leaks.
If the heater and wiring test good, the control board may not be energizing the heater relay and should be checked by a technician.
