Possible Causes

Defective Gorenje door lock assembly, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Loose wiring harness at door lock, Faulty control board door lock circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before working around the door lock. Do not force the door open with tools.

  • Check door closure: Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door seal and glass. Close the door firmly until you hear a positive click.
  • Inspect latch hook: Examine the metal or plastic latch on the door for damage or looseness. Tighten screws or replace the latch if broken.
  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a program. Sometimes the lock can reset.
  • Access door lock (advanced): Remove the front retaining band from the door seal and peel the seal back near the lock. Unscrew the door lock assembly and pull it out carefully.
  • Check wiring and lock: Inspect the connector for burning or loose pins. Test the lock coil for continuity. Replace the door lock assembly with a Gorenje-compatible part if open or mechanically jammed.
