Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Worn motor brushes (on brushed motors), Loose motor connector or wiring harness, Defective motor control circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing panels or touching the motor.
- Check for drum obstruction: Rotate the drum by hand from the front. It should turn smoothly. If jammed, inspect for foreign objects between drum and tub.
- Access motor (advanced): Remove the rear panel. Locate the drive belt and motor at the bottom of the tub.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the motor plug is fully seated and that the harness is not damaged or burned.
- Check motor brushes (if applicable): Remove the motor and inspect carbon brushes. Replace if worn short or uneven.
- Test tachometer: On the motor shaft end, locate the tachometer coil. Measure resistance according to Gorenje specifications (typically a few hundred ohms). Replace the motor if the tachometer is open or loose.
If the motor and wiring are sound, the main control board may not be driving the motor correctly and should be tested by a technician.
