Drive belt slipping on pulley, Lint buildup on dryer heater, Foreign object stuck between drum and tub, Electrical overheating at connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the machine immediately, unplug it, and allow it to cool. Do not ignore burning smells.
- Step 1 – Inspect drum: Check inside the drum for trapped items (e.g. plastic, rubber) that may be rubbing.
- Step 2 – Check belt and pulleys: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drive belt for glazing or burning. Ensure the pulley is clean and the belt tension is correct. Replace a damaged belt.
- Step 3 – Clean dryer heater area: Access the dryer heater housing and remove lint and dust that can cause hot spots.
- Step 4 – Inspect wiring: Look for discolored or melted connectors, especially at the heater, motor, and PCB. Replace any burnt connectors and address the root cause.
If the smell persists after these checks, discontinue use and call a technician.
