Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Gram washer-dryer combo from the mains before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.
- Step 1 – Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door glass and gasket. Inspect the metal/plastic latch hook on the door for damage or misalignment.
- Step 2 – Inspect door gasket and hinge: Check that the door sits evenly in the frame and the hinge screws are tight. If the door sags, gently lift while closing; if this clears the error temporarily, the hinge or latch is worn.
- Step 3 – Access door lock assembly: Remove the front retaining band from the door gasket, peel the gasket back, and locate the door interlock on the front panel. Disconnect the power connector and inspect for burnt pins or loose wires.
- Step 4 – Test door lock: Using a multimeter (with power disconnected), test continuity across the lock terminals when the latch is engaged manually. If the lock does not change state or shows open circuit, replace the door lock assembly.
- Step 5 – Check harness and PCB: Trace the wiring harness from the door lock to the main control PCB. Look for pinched, broken, or corroded wires. Reseat the connector on the PCB. If the lock and wiring are good, the door lock relay on the PCB may be faulty and the control board may need replacement.
If you are not comfortable working with mains wiring, contact a qualified Gram service technician.
