Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed dryer fan, Stuck heater relay on PCB, Faulty high-limit thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool fully. Do not continue using the dryer until the cause is corrected.
- Clean all airflow paths: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter. If the unit has a condenser, remove and rinse it under running water to clear lint and scale. Vacuum internal ducts where accessible.
- Check fan operation: After cooling, plug in and start a drying cycle. Listen for the fan. If it does not run, stop the cycle and inspect the fan motor and wiring as in E12.
- Inspect thermostats: With power unplugged, access the heater housing and test the high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse for continuity. Replace any open devices and ensure ducts are clear to prevent recurrence.
- Call a technician: If overheating recurs with clean ducts and a working fan, the heater relay on the main PCB may be sticking closed, requiring board replacement by a professional.
