Possible Causes

Defective door lock assembly, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Wiring harness fault between lock and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before working on the door lock. Do not force the door open with tools.

  • Check door closure: Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door gasket and door. Close the door firmly until you hear a positive click.
  • Inspect door strike: Examine the plastic or metal door strike on the door for cracks or looseness. Tighten screws or replace the strike if damaged.
  • Listen for lock operation: Plug in and start a cycle. Listen for a click from the lock area. If there is no sound and E6 appears, the lock may not be energizing.
  • Access and inspect lock: Unplug the unit, remove the front retaining band of the door gasket, and peel the gasket back to access the door lock assembly. Check for loose connectors or burned contacts.
  • Replace door lock if needed: If the lock shows signs of overheating or tests open with a multimeter, replace it with a Haier-compatible door lock assembly.
  • Call a technician: If a new lock does not resolve E6, the main PCB output or wiring harness may be defective and should be professionally tested.
