Possible Causes
Overloaded drum, Binding drum due to foreign object, Faulty motor windings, Shorted motor control triac or IGBT on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting the drum or motor area.
- Reduce load: Remove some items from the drum and try a spin-only cycle. Overloading can cause excessive current draw and trigger E8.
- Check for drum obstruction: Rotate the drum by hand. It should move smoothly. Scraping, grinding, or stiff movement may indicate a foreign object between inner and outer tubs or a bearing issue.
- Inspect motor connections: Access the rear of the machine, remove the back panel, and check the motor connector and wiring harness for burns or looseness. Reseat connectors.
- Test motor windings: With a multimeter, measure resistance between motor terminals according to Haier specs. A shorted or open winding requires motor replacement.
- Call a technician: If the motor tests good but E8 persists, the main PCB motor drive circuit may be failing and should be diagnosed and replaced by a professional.
