Possible Causes

Failed Hisense tub heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Wiring issue between heater and main PCB, Defective main control board heater relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and ensure water inside the drum is cool before working near the heater.

  • Confirm symptom: Run a hot wash program and check if the door glass warms up after 15–20 minutes. If not, heating is likely not working.
  • Access the heater: On many Hisense combos, the heater is mounted at the bottom rear of the tub and accessible from the rear panel. Remove the rear panel to locate the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
  • Check wiring: Inspect heater and sensor connectors for corrosion, burning, or loose fit. Reseat connectors firmly.
  • Test the heater: With power disconnected, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heater terminals. A typical value is 20–40 Ω; infinite resistance indicates an open heater that must be replaced.
  • Test the NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the NTC at room temperature (often 20–30 kΩ). If reading is open, shorted, or does not change with temperature, replace the Hisense NTC temperature sensor.
  • Control board: If heater and NTC test good but E5 persists, the main PCB heater relay or control circuit may be faulty. This repair is best handled by a Hisense-authorized technician.
