Washer-dryer will not start; display shows E01 and door remains locked or will not lock

Safety first: Unplug the Hoover washer-dryer combo from the mains before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.

• Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try a new cycle. Sometimes E01 is a transient logic error.
• Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the latch engages firmly. Inspect the metal/plastic latch hook on the door for damage or looseness. If bent or cracked, the door may not engage the interlock.
• Inspect door seal and hinge: Look for clothing or debris trapped between the door and gasket that could prevent full closure. Check that the hinge screws are tight and the door is not sagging.
• Access the door interlock: Remove the front door seal clamp (spring band) and gently pull back the gasket near the lock. Locate the door interlock assembly on the cabinet front.
• Check wiring: With power still disconnected, inspect the wiring harness to the door lock for burnt connectors, loose plugs, or broken wires. Reseat the connector firmly.
• Test/replace door lock: Using a multimeter, test the door interlock terminals for continuity according to a Hoover service manual or wiring diagram. If the lock coil is open or shows signs of overheating, replace the door interlock assembly.
• If problem persists: If a known-good door lock and wiring are OK, the main control board (PCB) may not be sending the lock signal. At this point, professional diagnosis and PCB replacement is recommended.
