Possible Causes

Shorted motor windings, Faulty motor triac on PCB, Damaged motor harness, Stalled drum due to mechanical obstruction

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance. Do not run the machine with panels removed.

  • Check drum movement: Manually rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. Grinding, binding, or blockage suggests a mechanical issue (foreign object between drum and tub, seized bearings).
  • Inspect belt: Remove the rear panel and check the drive belt for breakage, glazing, or slipping. Replace if worn or broken.
  • Motor inspection: Check the motor for burning smell, discoloration, or physical damage. Ensure the connector is firmly seated.
  • Electrical tests: With the motor disconnected, measure resistance of the motor windings. Compare to Hoover specifications. A shorted or open winding indicates a failed motor.
  • Harness check: Inspect the wiring from the motor to the PCB for chafing or pinched sections.
  • Replace faulty parts: Replace the motor if windings are defective. If the motor tests good but E08 persists, the motor triac or drive circuit on the PCB is likely faulty and the PCB should be replaced by a professional.
