Possible Causes
Shorted motor, Shorted motor triac or power module, Damaged wiring causing short to chassis, Water ingress on motor or PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug immediately. If the breaker has tripped, reset only after inspecting for shorts. Risk of electric shock and fire.
- Visual inspection: Remove rear panel and inspect the motor, wiring, and PCB area for burn marks, melted insulation, or signs of water leaks.
- Check for leaks: Look for traces of water around the motor, sump hose, and tub seal that could have dripped onto electrical parts.
- Motor test: Disconnect the motor and test winding resistance. A very low resistance or continuity to the motor casing indicates a shorted motor.
- Harness check: Inspect the cable from motor to PCB for crushed or exposed conductors touching the cabinet.
- PCB inspection: Examine the control board for burnt components, especially around the motor triac or power module.
- Replace components: Replace the motor if shorted. If the PCB is visibly damaged, it must be replaced. Due to the risk and complexity, PCB replacement is best done by a qualified technician.
