Possible Causes
Faulty dryer NTC sensor, Loose NTC wiring, Blocked condenser or air duct, Control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal dryer components.
- Clean airflow system: Remove and clean the condenser (if condenser type), lint filters, and accessible ducts. Blocked airflow can cause incorrect temperature readings.
- Locate dryer NTC: Typically mounted in the exhaust duct or near the heater. Remove the top or rear panel to access.
- Test NTC: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Check against Hoover specifications. Warm the sensor gently (e.g., in your hand) and confirm resistance changes smoothly.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the NTC connector is tight and wires are not damaged or pinched.
- Replace NTC if faulty: If readings are unstable, open, or shorted, replace the dryer NTC sensor.
- Control board check: If a new NTC and clean ducts do not resolve E11, the PCB may be misinterpreting the sensor signal and may require replacement by a technician.
