Possible Causes
Leaking tub seal, Split hose (sump or recirculation), Loose pump or heater gasket, Blocked condenser causing condensation overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply. Water in the base can contact live parts.
- Tip and inspect base: Carefully tilt the machine slightly backward and look underneath for water. Many Hoover models have a float switch in the base tray that triggers E13.
- Dry the base: If water is present, soak it up with towels or use a wet/dry vacuum. Allow the base and float switch to dry completely.
- Identify leak source: Remove the rear and/or side panels. Run a short fill or rinse cycle while observing (use a torch). Look for drips from hoses, pump, tub seal, or heater gasket.
- Check hoses and clamps: Inspect the sump hose, drain hose, and recirculation hoses for splits or loose clamps. Tighten or replace as needed.
- Inspect pump and heater seals: Look for water around the drain pump body and wash heater gasket. Replace seals or components if leaking.
- Condenser and dryer leaks: Ensure the condenser (if fitted) is clean and seated correctly. Blocked condensers can cause water to overflow into the base.
- Test after repair: Once leaks are fixed and the base is dry, reconnect power and run a test cycle to confirm E13 is cleared.
