Possible Causes
Partially blocked pump filter, Obstructed drain hose or standpipe, Weak drain pump, Siphoning due to incorrect hose installation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine. Prepare for water spillage when opening the filter.
- Clean pump filter: Open the lower front flap, place a tray, and unscrew the filter. Remove lint and debris. Check inside the pump housing for small objects.
- Inspect drain hose: Ensure the hose is not kinked or crushed. Detach from the standpipe and flush with water to clear internal blockages.
- Check standpipe height: Verify the drain hose is installed at the correct height and not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning.
- Test pump performance: Run a drain-only program and listen to the pump. If it is unusually loud, intermittent, or weak, the pump may be failing.
- Replace pump if needed: If cleaning does not resolve E18 and the pump is noisy or weak, replace the drain pump assembly.
