Possible Causes
Shorted drain pump, Shorted pump triac on PCB, Wiring short to pump, Water ingress on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. If there is a burning smell, do not reconnect power until inspected.
- Inspect pump: Access the drain pump from the front or rear. Check for signs of overheating or burning.
- Test pump electrically: Disconnect the pump and measure coil resistance. A very low resistance or short to earth indicates a faulty pump.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from pump to PCB for damage or shorts to the cabinet.
- PCB inspection: Examine the control board for burnt components near the pump triac. If damaged, the PCB must be replaced.
- Replace pump and/or PCB: Replace a shorted pump first. If E23 persists or PCB is visibly damaged, have the PCB replaced by a professional.
