Possible Causes

Shorted motor triac on main PCB, Failed main control board (power module), Shorted drive motor windings, Wiring harness short between motor and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not work on live circuits.

F01 on Hotpoint-Ariston washer-dryer combos usually indicates a short circuit in the motor control triac on the main power module.

  • Power reset: Unplug the machine for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and try a short cycle. If F01 returns immediately, continue below.
  • Inspect motor connector and wiring:
    • Remove the rear panel.
    • Locate the drive motor at the bottom of the tub.
    • Check the multi-pin connector for signs of burning, corrosion, or loose pins.
    • Follow the wiring harness back to the main control board (usually at the bottom or side) and look for damaged insulation or pinched wires.
  • Check motor windings (for qualified persons with a multimeter):
    • Disconnect the motor plug.
    • Measure resistance between motor terminals; they should be low but not shorted (typically a few ohms). Infinite or near-zero readings indicate a faulty motor.
  • Inspect main control board (power module):
    • Remove the control board cover.
    • Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or a visibly damaged triac (3‑legged component on a heatsink).
    • If the triac or PCB is visibly damaged, the board should be replaced as a complete assembly.

Important: Component-level repair of the PCB (replacing the triac) should only be done by an experienced electronics technician. Most users should replace the entire power module.
