Possible Causes
Open-circuit dryer heater element, Tripped or failed thermal cut-out (TCO), Loose heater wiring, Faulty heater relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Dryer components can be very hot; ensure full cooling before work.
- Access dryer heater:
- Remove the rear panel or top cover depending on model.
- Locate the dryer heater assembly on the air duct.
- Inspect wiring and thermostats:
- Check all connectors for tightness and signs of overheating.
- Locate thermal cut-outs/thermostats mounted on the heater housing.
- Test heater element:
- Disconnect heater wires.
- Measure resistance across the heater; typical values are 20–40 Ω.
- Infinite resistance indicates a failed heater.
- Test thermal cut-outs:
- With power off, check continuity across each thermostat/TCO.
- Any open device (that is not a resettable type) should be replaced.
- If heater and TCOs are OK: The heater relay or control board may be defective; replace the main control board.
