Possible Causes
Failed door lock assembly, Broken or loose door lock wiring, Misaligned door catch, Faulty main control board door lock relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working on the door lock.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the latch engages firmly. Inspect the plastic door catch for cracks or wear; replace if damaged.
- Inspect door lock: Remove the front retaining spring from the door gasket and peel back the seal near the lock. Access the door lock assembly and check the connector for loose or burnt pins.
- Test the lock (advanced): With the lock removed and unplugged, measure resistance across the lock terminals according to a wiring diagram or service data. An open circuit indicates a failed lock.
- Check wiring to PCB: Trace the harness from the lock to the main control board. Repair any damaged wires or loose connections.
- Replace door lock: If the lock is faulty, install a new Hotpoint-compatible door interlock, refit the gasket and retaining spring, and test a short cycle.
