Possible Causes
Loose or damaged harness between UI and PCB, Faulty user interface board, Faulty main control board, Moisture or corrosion on connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer-dryer before removing the top or control panel.
- Access control panel: Remove the top cover and the screws securing the front control fascia. Carefully pull the panel forward.
- Check ribbon cable/harness: Inspect the cable between the user interface (buttons/knobs) and the main PCB. Reseat both ends and ensure there is no visible damage.
- Look for moisture: Condensation or leaks can affect the control area. Dry any moisture and correct any visible leaks from the dispenser or hoses.
- Board substitution: If reseating cables does not help, either the UI board or main PCB may be defective. Replacement usually requires transferring the exact part number; if unsure, consult a Hotpoint parts list or technician.
