How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing the rear panel.
- Check belt: Remove the rear panel and inspect the belt between the motor pulley and drum pulley. Refit if slipped; replace if cracked or broken.
- Test drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand. If it is stiff or noisy, investigate bearings or foreign objects.
- Inspect motor brushes (if applicable): On older Hotpoint motors with brushes, remove the motor and check brush length. Replace if worn below manufacturer spec.
- Wiring and motor test: Check the motor connector and harness. If the motor coil is open or shorted, replace the motor assembly.
